Meet Willie Nelson’s Loving Wife Of Over 30 Years, Annie D’Angelo

Willie Nelson Married His Wife, Annie D’Angelo, In 1991

Willie Nelson was married three times before he found lasting love with his now-wife, Annie D’Angelo. They married on September 16, 1991.

Annie and Willie share two children. Their first son, Lukas, was born on December 25, 1988. Their second son, Micah, was born on May 24, 1990.

Both Lukas and Micah have followed in their father’s musical footsteps.

“We’ve got a couple of great kids,” Willie told PEOPLE about his and Annie’s sons during an interview in 2023. “I am proud of them and all they’re doing on their own. It’s great to have your kids with you at any time, but if they’re on the stage singing with you and they’re good, that makes it even better.”

What’s The Secret To Willie & Annie’s Happy Marriage?

After being married for over 30 years, what’s the secret to Willie Nelson and Annie D’Angelo’s lasting union? As Willie told PEOPLE in 2023, laughter is the key for them.

As they say, laughter’s the best medicine. I’ve always enjoyed a good joke.”

Willie also noted how Annie is a loving and compassionate partner, who truly lives by her vows to love him “in sickness and in health.”

The country music legend contracted COVID-19 in May 2022. Annie didn’t know if her then-89-year-old husband would be alright after falling ill.

“We turned the house into a hospital,” Annie said. “There were a couple of times when I wasn’t sure he was going to make it.”

But Willie pulled through. He’s incredibly grateful for Annie’s love and devotion during that time and throughout their marriage.

I call her my pet rattler. She’s my lover, my wife, nurse, doctor, [and] bodyguard,” Willie later told PEOPLE.

At age 91, Willie is still touring and performing for his adoring fans nationwide. And he’s doing it all with Annie by his side.
