Mass Shooting in New York City Leaves 3 Dead, 8 Injured
A mass shooting in New York City has left at least three people dead and eight others injured. Police confirmed on Sunday morning that the tragedy unfolded inside a crowded lounge in Brooklyn.
Shooting at Taste of the City Lounge in Crown Heights
The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. at Taste of the City in the Crown Heights neighborhood. According to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, the gunfire broke out after a dispute inside the lounge.
Police responded within minutes after receiving several 911 calls. At the scene, officers discovered 11 people shot, ranging in age from 27 to 61.
Victims and Casualties
Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities identified two of them as men aged 27 and 35, while the third man’s age has not yet been confirmed.
The remaining eight victims were rushed to local hospitals. Thankfully, their injuries are not life-threatening, Tisch reported.
NYPD Investigation Underway
Authorities believe there were multiple shooters involved. However, no arrests had been made as of Sunday morning.
Investigators recovered at least 36 shell casings at the scene. A firearm was also found near the lounge, but police are still determining whether it was used in the attack.
A Rare Incident in New York
Commissioner Tisch highlighted that New York has seen a record low in shooting incidents this year.
“Something like this is, of course, an anomaly,” she said. “It’s a terrible tragedy, and we are committed to getting to the bottom of it.”
The NYPD is reviewing CCTV footage from the area and continuing the search for suspects.
