Legendary Country Artist Tracy Lawrence Joins The Texas Country Music Hall Of Fam

Texas Country Music Hall Of Fame Inducts Tracy Lawrence, The Mandrell Sisters, & Roy Orbison

The Texas Country Music Hall of Fame has recognized country music legend and Texas native Tracy Lawrence.

The Texas Country Music Hall of Fame inducted Lawrence, the Mandrell Sisters (Barabara, Louise, and Irlene Mandrell), and the late Roy Orbison on Saturday (August 10). Lawrence, Louise Mandrell, and Irlene Mandrell all performed at the ceremony.

They join an elite list of past inductees, including George Jones, Jeannie C. Riley, Waylon Jennings, Tanya Tucker, and Willie Nelson.

As a member, Lawrence now has an exhibit on display at the Hall of Fame. He met with East Texas news station KLTV 7 in front of the exhibit to speak about his inclusion in the Hall.

“I was born in Texas [in the city of Atlanta],” he said. “I moved away when I was very young [to Arkansas], but I spent all of my summers and holidays back in Queen City with my grandparents. So I spent a lot of time in Texas. I missed out on going through the school system in Texas and learning a lot of the Texas history. But I’ve kind of updated myself over the years.”

2009 Texas Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Linda Davis presented Lawrence’s plaque during the induction ceremony.

Lawrence reacted to his latest honor and shared photos from the induction ceremony on social media. He said:

“What an honor to be inducted to the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame this weekend. Texas influenced and shaped a lot of my early career and I am so grateful for this honor. God bless Texas!!”

Tracey Lawrence released his debut single, “Sticks and Stones,” in 1991. The song immediately put him on the map, reaching the #1 spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.

More chart-topping songs followed, including “Alibis,” “Texas Tornado,” “Time Marches On,” and “Find Out Who Your Friends Are.”

That’s not even mentioning his many Top 10 hits, including “If the World Had a Front Porch,” “Stars Over Texas,” “Lessons Learned,” and “Paint Me a Birmingham.”

Lawrence became one of the defining voices in 1990s and 2000s country music thanks to the above-mentioned songs and the albums he released.

Over the course of his career, Lawrence has earned two ACM Awards and one CMA Award. He also received a Grammy nomination in 1997.

Lawrence remains active as a touring performer. He also continues to record and release new music. He just released a new song, “Out Here In It,” earlier this year.

It seems fitting that the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame chose to recognize Tracy Lawrence as the icon he is! Watch a recap of his induction ceremony in the video below.
