Kelly Clarkson Done Paying Spousal Support To Ex Brandon Blackstock
Kelly Clarkson has just paid her final spousal support payment to her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
We’re sure there is a bit of a celebration of sorts going on in Kelly Clarkson’s camp after reaching the end of a years-long battle with her ex husband.
Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020.
This came as a shock to fans, as the couple seemed as though they were happily quarantining there when the COVID pandemic hit. In May 2020, Clarkson called him her “partner in crime” and raved about all he was doing to help her continue to film The Kelly Clarkson Show remotely.
“My husband is now a lighting technician, an audiovisual technician, a director and he’s also playing cowboy on our ranch,” she said. “He’s got his hands full. We both, definitely, have our hands full. It’s not just this job, it’s [my] TV show and making records. We’re all still making records. It’s a lot of new things happening for us, and we’re trying to get it done.”
Less than a month later, she moved back to LA and filed for divore.
The former couple then went to battle for custody of their kids, spousal support, and the ranch in Montana Clarkson had purchased. Blackstock ended up being able to live on her ranch, and was even given five percent ownership during their divorce proceedings. He then purchased another ranch in Big Sky Country.
The other big battle was over spousal support, after she was granted primary custody of their two kids, River and Remington.
Blackstock requested $301,000 in spousal support in addition to $135,000 in child support.
A judge ruled in March 2022 that Clarkson would pay him a combined $200,000 in monthly spousal and child support, along with a one time payment of $1.3 million.
Month after month, Clarkson paid her ex-husband hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Recently, a judge ordered Blackstock to pay Clarkson $2,641,374 for “unlawfully procuring deals” as her manager, when it should have been compelted by a talent agent.
That was a huge win, and in January 2024, Clarkson officially made her finally spousal support payment.
According to Us Weekly, a source close to the situation said, “Kelly is feeling relieved that her spousal support to Brandon has come to an end. She’s been ready for this for a while now and is so happy her payments to Brandon will be complete. It’s so nice knowing that this chapter of her life can close with the new year.”
The insider added, “Kelly’s looking at this as a fresh start and she couldn’t be happier for a clean slate in 2024.”
Congratulations to Kelly on this incredible accomplishment, and we wish her nothing but the best moving forward!
