Jordan Rainer Takes Off Signature Sunglasses For “Instant Save” Performance
Team Reba’s Jordan Rainer sang for her life on the Tuesday’s (Dec. 5) episode of The Voice.
The Top 12 contestants on The Voice performed on live television for the very first time on Monday (Dec. 4). This means that this week is the first week that America is able to vote for their favorite singers!
Each coach had three artists in the live show and every artist performed a song they felt could move them on to the next round – Top 9! As of Monday, the teams were as follows:
Team Niall – Nini Iris, Mara Justine, and Huntley
Team Gwen – BIAS, Tanner Masser, and Kara Tenae
Team Legend -AZÁN, Lila Ford, and Mac Royals
Team Reba – Ruby Leigh, Jordan Rainer, and Jacquie Roar
Not only did the competitors receive pointers from their own coaches, Chance the Rapper also came in this week to help mentor!
Even though he isn’t in a coaches’ chair this year, he jumped at the chance (get it?!) to help mentor this season!
Who made it to the Top 9?
Tuesday’s episode was all about the results. Host Carson Daly announced that the bottom four contestants would have to perform an “Instant Save” song, and American would vote to save just one of them by the end of the episode.
Coach Niall Horan’s team stayed fully in tact! All three of his singers advanced. The singers who had to perform an “Instant Save” were Reba McEntire’s Jordan Rainer, John Legend’s AZÁN, and Gwen Stefani’s Tanner Massey and Kara Tenae.
What did the contestants sing for their “Instant Save”?
Kara Tenae performed Mariah Carey’s “Love Takes Time,” while AZÁN sang former Voice coach’s hit song “no tears left to cry.” Tanner Massey sang “More Than Words,” originally by Extreme and Jordan Rainer put her own spin on Patty Loveless’s “Blame It on Your Heart.”
Rainer stunned the audience when she took off her signature dark sunglasses and gave them to a fan in the crowd. She normally stands at the microphone and strums her guitar, so it was nice to see her walk around the stage and connect with audience in a different way.
