Jelly Roll Says He Won’t Play Nashville Again In Until 2027: “Hear Me Out Though”
The hometown hero isn’t playing the hometown anymore?
Well, at least not for a while… but he has a reason.
Jelly Roll is in the middle of touring with Post Malone on the Big A** Stadium Tour, but he took a break from that tour to headline the Music City Rodeo this past weekend at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. With Jelly Roll being a Nashville native, it’s always a special show for him when he’s performing at home, especially since he most of his young adult life in and out of jail in the area. From the corrections center to headlining one of the biggest arenas in the state is nothing short of an incredible accomplishment.
But according to Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, the Music City Rodeo show was the last one he’s going to hold in Nashville until… 2027. And the reason why is that he wants to be the first to play the new Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans, when it is expected to open ahead of the 2027 NFL season.
In his signature Pentecostal preacher style, he paused the music and told the crowd:
“I shouldn’t say this… this will be my last Nashville show until 2027, y’all. Hear me out though, this is why… because I need y’all’s help. I want to be the first act to play Nissan Stadium when it opens in the spring of 2027.
I never thought I would make it here. I never thought we would sell the Bridgestone out. We’ve sold the Bridgestone out three times now, two times in the last five months. In 2027, Nissan Stadium, please let the local boy live a dream and open up the new stadium, let me be the first to play it, baby! Let the local boy do it, baby! I’ve got a f***** life-long Titans fan. Let me play Nissan Stadium, y’all!
Woooo sorry, that’s crazy but I gotta speak it into existence, I believe in Nashville… if all of y’all brought a friend, we could do it. If you brought a friend, we could do it! Thank y’all for everything.”
