Jelly Roll Honors Toby Keith With Touching Cover Of “My List” During Charity Benefit Concert

Country Singers Join Forces To Honor Toby Keith & Raise Money For Charity

Jelly Roll joined a long list of country stars who honored the late Toby Keith during the Toby Keith: American Icon tribute concert and charity benefit show.

Toby Keith died on February 5, 2024, following a battle with stomach cancer. Dozens of country stars, including Jelly Roll, have paid tribute to Toby in the months since his passing.

Jelly Roll has performed Toby’s iconic track, “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” multiple times in his honor. He even sang the song live at the Stagecoach music festival with T-Pain.

Jelly Roll more recently honored Toby during the American Icon tribute show and benefit concert. The concert was held on July 29 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and filmed for a televised special that will air on NBC on Wednesday, August 28, at 9 PM ET.

Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Parker McCollum, Darius Rucker, Eric Church, Ashley McBryde, The War and Treaty, and Lainey Wilson were among some of the other acts who performed.

A portion of all ticket sales helped support the Toby Keith Foundation’s OK Kids Korral. The OK Kids Korral provides a cost-free home for pediatric cancer patients and their families while the child undergoes treatment in Toby’s home state of Oklahoma.
Ticket sales also helped support the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee.
Jelly Roll Sings “My List” In Tribute To Toby Keith
Jelly Roll delivered a touching tribute to Keith during the American Icon concert. He sang Keith’s heartwarming #1 hit from 2002, “My List.”

Before he started singing, Jelly Roll dedicated his performance to Toby’s family. He said:

“I would like to dedicate this to Tricia, Shelley, Krystal, Stelen, and Toby’s entire family. Toby inspired me to be a better American, a better human, a better songwriter—and with songs like this, most importantly, he inspired me to be a better father.”

As he waited for the music to start, Jelly Roll showed that his hands were shaking, as he was nervous about doing Keith’s song justice. From there, he moved into his touching cover of “My List,” all while photos of Keith and his family flashed on the screen behind him.

Jelly Roll’s tribute was a moving performance honoring one of country music’s most legendary figures. Watch him sing “My List” in the video below.
