Jason Aldean tackles criticism head-on at concert over the weekend.
Jason Aldean has been facing some pretty harsh criticism following the release of his latest music video for “Try That In a Small Town,” and has been tackling it head-on.
Aldean released his new single, “Try That In a Small Town,” in May (2023). Following its initial release, he faced some backlash, but it was nothing compared to what he has been dealing with this week. The song takes a very obvious stand for gun rights, and discourages acts of violence against law enforcement.
He posted a statement on social media defending the video stating the accusations were “meritless” and “dangerous.”

Jason Aldean addressed the accusations live at his concert in Cincinnati Friday night (July 21).
“I gotta tell you guys…It’s been a long week,” Aldean stated.
“I’ve seen a lot of stuff…suggesting I’m this, suggesting I’m that. Hey, here’s the thing. Here’s the thing. Here’s one thing I feel, I feel like everyone’s entitled to their opinion. You can think something all you want to, that doesn’t mean it’s true, right? So, what I am is a proud American.”

Jason continued, earning the applause of the rowdy crowd.

“I love our country, I want to see it restored to what it once was. I love my country, I love my family, and I will do anything to protect that. I can tell you that right now.”

The crowd went wild and burst into a “USA” chant.
