Ingrid Andress Checking Into Rehab Following Controversial National Anthem Performance
Country singer Ingrid Andress has announced that she is “checking [herself] into a facility” following her national anthem performance at the MLB All-Star Home Run Derby on Monday night (July 15).
Andress is a four-time Grammy nominee who is known for her songs “More Hearts Than Mine,” “Lady Like,” and her 2021 duet “Wishful Drinking” with Sam Hunt.
She performed a rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” that went viral for all the wrong reasons. She started the song off just fine but after a few notes, the song seemingly off went off the rails as she was struggling to find the right notes.
Her rendition received lots of attention and fans compared her version to Fergie’s infamous rendition at the NBA All-Star game in 2018.
See some social media reactions below.
“When you lie on your resume and get the job…”
“Should be charged with treason for that performance.”
“When you order the National Anthem from Temu 🥴”
“Whoever’s idea it was to have this girl sing should be fired”
“She sung the national anthem like she’s never heard it before.”
“My ears STILL hurt”
“Bohm holding back his laugh🤣🤣🤣”
Ingrid Andress broke her silence since her performance, and revealed she will be getting some help.
Andress revealed that she had been drinking before her performance and what we saw on Monday night “was not [her].”
“I’m not gonna bullshit y’all,” she wrote on social media. “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is I hear it’s super fun.”
We wish Andress nothing but the best as she gets the help she needs.
