ICYMI: George Strait Sets Stage on Fire Singing ‘Great Balls of Fire’

George Strait

Amidst much heated debate over Jerry Lee Lewis’ credibility as a major country influence and being included in the ranks of Country Hall of Famers, the tribute to the said artists last August 24 did not need much arguing as the likes of George Strait paid tribute to ‘The Killer’ of American rock and country scene.

Great Balls of Fire, George Strait
It’s not hard to figure out why George Strait chose the 1957 hit to open the tribute to Lewis. It ranked as the 96th greatest song ever in the Rolling Stone list while it was then featured in the famed Jamboree movie.

This song transcended time as it was also used this year in WWE professional wrestling bearing the same name with the song as it was with the TV episode. On this video, we can see George Strait with his signature cowboy look while giving the audience a dose of Strait fire.

“Great Balls Of Fire”
You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain
Too much love drives a man insane
You broke my will, but what a thrill
Goodness gracious great balls of fire

I laughed at love when I thought it was funny
But you came along and you moved me honey
I’ve changed my mind, this love is fine
Goodness gracious great balls of fire

Kiss me baby, woo, it feels good
Hold me baby, ooh, yeah, you gonna love me like a lover should
You’re fine, so kind, I’m gonna tell this world that you’re mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!

I chew my nails, I twiddle my thumbs
I’m really nervous but it sure is fun
Come on baby, you drive me crazy
Goodness gracious great balls of fire

Ohhh, kiss me baby, woo-oooooo, feels good, yeah
Let me love you like a lover should.
You’re fine. So kind.
I gonna tell this world that you’re mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!

I chew my nails and I twiddle my thumbs
I’m real nervous but it sure is fun
Come on baby, you drive me crazy
Goodness gracious great balls of fire
