Compromise is key. Carrie Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, are learning how to “embrace their differences” as parents, a source exclusively tells Closer Weekly.
“Mike loves having two little boys to run around outdoors and to teach sports. And motherhood has fulfilled Carrie and keeps her feeling grounded,” the insider says. “The boys are their world and they always say how happy they are as a family of four — but they’d happily welcome more babies!”
The pair did have to overcome a “ton of differences,” however, to get to such a great place in their marriage. Carrie is “liberal and progressive” and Mike is “conservative,” and it took the “Dirty Laundry” singer a while to get over Mike’s “rigid” opinions about her sense of style and “her performances.”
“She finally told him she couldn’t change who she was to make him happy, that just wouldn’t work,” the source explains.
By doing that, the couple decided to “meet in the middle” and work their problems out. “That’s been what has worked throughout their marriage,” the insider adds. “They’ve learned to compromise. They let each other be who they are without trying to change the other person.”

Finding common ground has helped the American Idol alum feel closer to her hubby. While the couple’s three miscarriages were difficult to endure, it helped them learn how to support one another.
“After her miscarriages, Carrie was at her lowest point. She felt so alone and felt like she couldn’t open up to Mike about her sadness. He was often traveling for work and she was literally dealing with it by herself,” the source reveals. “She realized that she had to lean on him and be open with him. That was a huge turning point for them, because it brought them closer than ever.”
