George Strait & Miranda Lambert Team Up For Beautiful Performance Of “Run” & “How ‘Bout Them Cowgirls” At SoFi Stadium
The Texas dream team.
Last night, George Strait and Chris Stapleton packed out SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, where Miranda Lambert was a special guest of both country stars, first coming out to sing her new duet with Stapleton, “A Song To Sing.”
But The King himself brought Miranda back out during his set for two beautiful renditions of his hits “Run” and “How ‘Bout Them Cowgirls,” two of my absolute favorites… I don’t know if I’ve ever been so jealous of a crowd at a show, but getting to witness this life is a bucket list moment for sure.
Of course, “Run” was the lead single from Strait’s 2001 album The Road Less Traveled. The song peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot Country Charts three separate times, but was never able to claim the number one spot. ‘How ’bout Them Cowgirls’ was written by Casey Beathard and Ed Hill and released in August of 2007 as the fourth single from Strait’s It Just Comes Natural album. It also peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and #49 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Miranda and George have performed them together before, but that was years ago and part of his 2014 The Cowboy Rides Away Tour: Live from AT&T Stadium, and we definitely haven’t gotten enough from these two so I’d say it was LONG overdue.
They’re two mega stars, and these songs… just timeless. I can’t get enough.
