For The First Time Since 2018, Carrie Underwood Is Not Nominated For CMA Entertainer Of The Year

Nominees For The 58th CMA Awards Revealed On Monday, September 9

Carrie Underwood, who’s been nominated for the CMA Entertainer of the Year Award six times, did not receive a nomination this year.

The nominees for the upcoming 2024 CMA Awards were announced early on Monday (September 9). Morgan Wallen leads the group with a total of seven nominations, followed by Chris Stapleton and Cody Johnson, with five nods each.

Post Malone and the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year, Lainey Wilson, both earned four nominations.

Wilson secured another nod in the Entertainer of the Year category this year. Her fellow nominees include Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen, and Jelly Roll.

Notably, for the first time since 2018, Carrie Underwood did not receive a nomination for Entertainer of the Year. She earned nominations in the category every year from 2019-2023.

Underwood actually has a total of six nominations in the category, earning her first nod in 2016.

Carrie Underwood Has Been Nominated For Entertainer Of The Year Six Times – But Never Won

Despite her many nominations, Underwood has never won the CMA’s Entertainer of the Year award. This has always been a shock and surprise to her fans, considering her status as one of country music’s biggest stars.

In fact, until Lainey Wilson secured the trophy in 2023, a female artist hadn’t won Entertainer of the Year since Taylor Swift in 2011.

Underwood also co-hosted the CMA Awards for 12 years, from 2008 to 2019. While she continued to attend the ceremony after stepping down as host, she skipped the event in 2023.

It’s especially surprising that Underwood wasn’t nominated at all this year. She performed several shows in her popular Reflection residency in Las Vegas, sang multiple times at the Grand Ole Opry, participated in the Toby Keith: American Icon tribute concert, performed the Sunday Night Football opener for the 12th consecutive season, and released a hit duet with Papa Roach.
