Smoky Mountain DNA will be released on Friday, November 15. But you can go ahead and pre-order the album now.

Two songs, “Smoky Mountain DNA” and “A Rose Won’t Fix It,” are already available for streaming. The former is a solo track by Parton, while the latter is a duet with her niece, Heidi Parton.

The album will contain a total of 37 tracks on six sides, labeled A-F.

Parton Says This Is “One Of The Most Important Albums [She’s] Ever Made

As the billing suggests, the album is a collaborative effort between Parton and her family. The record features recordings with several of Parton’s 11 siblings, including Stella, Floyd, Freida, Randy, Cassie, and Rachel. Parton’s mama, Avie Lee Parton, and grandfather, Rev. Jake Owens, also have singing credits listed.

Parton explained how much this album means to her in a message printed above the tracklist.

Smoky Mountain DNA is an album I’ve wanted to make for many years. For me personally, this is one of the most important albums I’ve ever made—because it’s family. My family has an abiding faith in God and an abiding faith in ourselves. We have strong family bonds that go back hundreds of years, and we have stories and music, passed down from parent to child for generations. My granddaddy, the Rev. Jake Owens, taught us about faith at his little country church, but on the front porch of our Tennessee mountain home, our Parton and Owens kin taught us about music. Grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins, they all loved music, they all made music, and I didn’t get to be who I am without many of the people you’re going to hear on this record. Some of them are gone, a lot of them are still with us, and a few of them are just teenagers. They all have the gift, and I am so proud to have been able to join my voice with each and every one of them. This record has been a true labor of love for me. It’s all about family, faith and fables and the magic that has always been right there for me, buried deep in our Smoky Mountain DNA.

The news of the album’s upcoming release comes shortly after Parton unveiled another new project, a cosmetics line called Dolly Beauty. You could say she has a lot of stuff in the works!
