Brandon Blackstock, the ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson, died on August 7 in Butte, Montana, after battling melanoma for three years. He was 48.

Blackstock worked as a rodeo producer and built a respected career in the music industry. He helped launch and grow the careers of several major artists.

After years in Nashville, he moved to Montana to live the cowboy lifestyle he loved. Friends remembered him as a gentleman, a sharpshooter, and a hardworking rancher who enjoyed riding horses, hunting, and fishing.
