Country Music Hall Of Fame Names 2024 Class Of Inductees
Brooks & Dunn Announce 2024 Class Of Country Music Hall Of Fame Inductees
The Country Music Hall of Fame revealed its 2024 class of inductees on Monday morning (March 18). Hall of Fame members Brooks & Dunn hosted the announcement ceremony at 10 AM Central Time.
Fans could watch the ceremony live on the CMA’s official YouTube channel.
The Country Music Hall of Fame inducts members in three categories: Modern Era, Veterans Era, and a rotating category. This year, the rotating category recognized a Recording and/or Touring Musician.
Here’s more information about each category, as the Hall of Fame explains on its website.
Recording and/or Touring Musician – This category rotates every three years. In 2023, songwriter Bob McDill was inducted. In 2022, non-performer Joe Galante was inducted.
Modern Era – A Modern Era inductee is eligible 20 years after they reach national prominence. Recent past inductees in this category include Patty Loveless (2023), Keith Whitley (2022), The Judds (2021), Marty Stuart (2020), and Brooks & Dunn (2019).
Veterans Era – A Veterans Era inductee is eligible 40 years after they reach national prominence. Recent past inductees in this category include Tanya Tucker (2023), Jerry Lee Lewis (2022), Ray Charles (2021), Hank Williams Jr. (2020), and Ray Stevens (2019).
Only one person (or duo/group) is inducted per category, except in the event of a tie. The Hall of Fame will induct the tying nominees together in that case. They did so in 2021 with Recording and/or Touring Musicians Eddie Bayers and Pete Drake.
Additionally, to avoid sympathy voting, candidates are not eligible for induction the year after their death. However, if voting already occurred before a person passed away, they could still be inducted.
Who Is Joining The Country Music Hall Of Fame In 2024?
One by one, Brooks & Dunn revealed the names of this year’s Country Music Hall of Fame inductees. Please keep reading to find out who they are.
Recording And/Or Touring Musician – James Burton
Known for his signature “Chicken Pickin’” guitar-playing style, James Burton performed with the likes of Elvis Presley and John Denver. He’s already been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Musicians Hall of Fame.
Now, he’s a future member of the Country Music Hall of Fame too!
Veterans Era – John Anderson
Country music legend John Anderson is known for songs such as “Seminole Wind,” “Swingin’,” “Wild and Blue,” “Straight Tequila Night,” and “Black Sheep.”
With numerous awards and accolades to his name already, it only makes sense that John Anderson will soon be a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Modern Era – Toby Keith
Since voting started before Toby Keith passed away on February 5, 2024, he was eligible to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame this year. They actually got the results back just hours after news broke that he passed away.
Toby definitely had a Hall of Fame-worthy career. He earned 20 #1 songs and 22 additional Top 10 hits throughout his career. Those songs include “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” “How Do You Like Me Now?!” and “I Wanna Talk About Me.”
Toby’s son, Stelen, briefly spoke during the ceremony and thanked everyone on his family’s behalf.
We sure wish Toby could have been here to witness his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame…
