Cody Johnson and Lainey Wilson Deliver Surprise Duet in Las Vegas

Cody Johnson and Lainey Wilson delivered an unforgettable moment in Las Vegas this weekend. During the final show of Johnson’s 2024 Leather Tour, the country stars surprised fans with a duet of the classic hit “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys.”

The performance took place during the second of Johnson’s back-to-back sold-out shows at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

A Timeless Country Moment

Fans were shocked when Wilson walked on stage. The crowd erupted as their voices—Texas and Louisiana-born—blended perfectly on the iconic country song. Originally recorded by Ed Bruce, the track was later made famous by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson.

During the duet, Johnson proudly exclaimed:

“That’s Lainey Wilson!”

Rodeo Week in Las Vegas

Both artists were in town not just for performances but for events tied to the National Finals Rodeo.

Johnson and Wilson have built a strong friendship over the years. They’ve often hinted at recording music together.

“Lainey and I have talked about doing something on the next record,” Johnson told Country Now.
“We have that relationship now. It’s time to hit the studio.”

He also revealed he pitched Wilson a duet idea:
“Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” by Loretta Lynn.
Though both agreed, the recording hasn’t happened—yet.

Leather Tour Ends on a High Note

The Leather Tour wrapped with these two sold-out Vegas shows. It capped a huge year for Johnson, who played:
