Singer Carrie Underwood and husband Mike Fisher have proved with their 10-year marriage that opposites do indeed attract.

According to sources who spoke to Closer Weekly, the couple has had to deal with a “ton of differences” in their marriage to get to where they are now.

The insider explained that Carrie is “liberal and progressive,” while her man is “conservative,” and it took a while before the “Jesus Take The Wheel” crooner could embrace Fisher’s rigidity. Explaining how the singer finally worked through their differences, the source said:

“She finally told him she couldn’t change who she was to make him happy, that just wouldn’t work.”

Luckily, that worked magic in their relationship as they were able to meet each other halfway. Their differences also spill into their parenting approach with their two sons, but the source notes that they have “learned to compromise.”
