Carrie Underwood is taking fans behind the scenes of her sultry “Drinking Alone” music video.
In the just-released clip, the superstar is seen on the set of the video, which was shot inside a dimly lit bar in New York City.
“The song basically is about two people who are separate, they don’t know each other. Kind of at the same place… a bar. They are here alone so they figure why not drown some sorrows together,” she explains, adding, “And what I love about this song is its kind of like there’s this independence about the woman, about the female character, that’s very much like I don’t need you like you don’t need me this isn’t a thing, We’re not starting anything not going to go home with you, let’s just kind of drink and forget and have fun together.”
The BTS video showcases clips of Underwood’s performance portion of the clip as well as an interview with her co-star, Jared Koronkiewicz.
“Working with Carrie is really great,” he shares. “She’s a lot of fun super chill, great personality, she’s funny.”
The steamy music video finds Underwood teaming up once again with frequent collaborator Randee St. Nicholas.
“I feel very safe in her hands, like she’s going to make me look my best,” the mom of two explains.
