Carrie Underwood Surprises 7-Year-Old Fan With Generous Donation To Support A Children’s Hospital On ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’

Carrie Underwood surprised 7-year-old philanthropist fan Hayley with a generous donation during her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on Tuesday (Jan. 12).

During the show, Hayley and her mom Lori detailed their journey to raising $200 to help get PPE for a Children’s Hospital that is local to them in Chicago, Illinois. The inspiring gesture to sell homemade friendship bracelets to raise money to help the Doctors and Nurses get the appropriate PPE supplies needed to do their job was Hayley’s idea. The idea came to her after overhearing the news saying that they are running out of masks and other PPE equipment.

“Back in March when we were under the stay at home order, my mom was watching the news and I overheard that he Doctors and Nurses are running out of masks and other PPE equipment,” 7-year-old Hayley explained of what prompted her to help. “So, I really wanted to help but I didn’t know how, so I ran up to my room and made these friendship bracelets and I told my mom I want to sell them and raise money for one of the hospitals.”

Well, the mother-daughter pair far exceeded their $200 goal and have since raised over $27,000 and have sold over 10,000 bracelets.

Drew Barrymore and Underwood surprised the young fan by giving her $5,000 each, Underwood’s donation coming in partnership with BODYARMOR LYTE.

“Hi Hayley, I wish so much that I could be there face-to-face in person right now, Your adorable,” Underwood said. “But you’re a perfect example, it doesn’t matter how old you are, where you are, whatever it is that you are into, you took your love for making bracelets and you used it to make the world a better place. So, yay Hayley.”
