Country superstar Carrie Underwood wrote a touching tribute to her youngest son on his second birthday where she reminisced about his delivery.
In honor of her youngest son’s second birthday, Carrie Underwood recently reflected on how challenging it was delivering him into the world. The country superstar made a touching post on Instagram wishing Jacob a happy birthday.

She started off the post reminiscing about how much she and her husband longed to have a second child, writing, “Jacob, we longed for you. We prayed for you.” Carrie then added how tough welcoming him into the world was: “We walked a long, hard road in order to one day hold you.” She continued, “Today you are two. You are silly and strong. You love to play and sing and follow your big brother around. You are loved. You are cherished. You are an incredible blessing from God.”
The post was accompanied by a photo of newborn Jacob swaddled in a blanket. The mother-of-two ended her post by writing, “Happy birthday, sweet boy!”
Carrie’s post may not have only been a reference to her difficult labor with Jacob, but also of the fertility struggles she and her husband, professional hockey player Mike Fisher, went through before his arrival. In 2018, the American Idol winner revealed that she underwent three miscarriages before Jacob’s birth.
During a candid interview with CBS Sunday Morning, she admitted she and her husband tried earnestly to have another baby in 2017 and 2018, but she lost all of her pregnancies in those two years. “We got pregnant early 2017, and it didn’t work out,” Carrie explained in the segment. She admitted she threw herself into her work after her losses in order to heal and cope. “I’d lose a baby, I’d have a writing session. I’d be like, ‘Let’s go I can’t just sit around thinking about this, I want to work, I want to do this,’” the ‘Jesus Take the Wheel’ singer said.
Carrie eventually gave birth to their second son in early 2019. She waited until she was far along in her pregnancy to reveal the news via Instagram. The singer previously welcomed her eldest child, son Isaiah, in 2015. Carrie and Mike originally tied the knot in 2010 at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge in Greensboro, Georgia. Their union featured over 250 guests. The couple had originally met backstage at one of Carrie’s concerts in late 2008 before getting engaged the following year.
