It’s no secret that Carrie Underwood is massive New Kids On The Block fan, and it seems as if her love for the ’80s boyband has come full circle as she appears in the just-released music video for their new quarantine tune, “House Party,” which also features Boys II Men, Jordan Sparks, Naughty By Nature and Big Freedia.
Underwood’s childhood idols, Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood invited the country music superstar to be apart of their star-studded music video.
The “House Party” lyrics are perfectly fitting for life in isolation.
“Ain’t got nothing else but time/ I think I’m gonna lose my mind/ But leave it all behind/ When will it stop?/ I can’t take this sh*t no more,” they sing on the chorus.
In the video at the 1:37 mark, Underwood is seen dancing around a bedroom in a New Kids On The Block ensemble, including a grey t-shirt adorned with the band’s logo in rainbow print and a pair of black NKOTB branded sweatpants.
Underwood has never been shy about her love for the “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” group. In May of 2017 she was seen dancing along to their hits in Nashville during their Total Package Tour before joining them on stage for a ‘Happy Birthday’ surprise for Jordan Knight at Bridgestone Arena. Then in 2019, she showcased her love for the band tweeting “I like the boys, the boys in the band!!” to Donnie Wahlberg, quoting their single, “Boys In The Band (Boy Band Anthem).”
After Underwood sang to Jordan, they tried to return the favor, even though their May 2017 concert date wasn’t anywhere near Underwood’s actual birthday. “Since Carrie’s one of our biggest fans for her entire lifetime and drives around the country to see us, which we still can’t believe happened, now we’re going to let Jon sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to you even though it’s not your birthday,” Wahlberg said to the crowd.
In 2015, Underwood even got serenaded by the boy in the band when they performed their 2008 Ne-Yo collaboration “Single.” She later gushed over it on Twitter explaining that it was the “Best. Night. Ever!!!”
The music video also includes appearances by Derek Hough, Mark Wahlberg, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong and Jenny McCarthy.
New Kids On The Block have released an exclusive House Party merch line with all net proceeds from the song and the merch benefitting No Kid Hungry.
