Two Of Country Music’s Leading Ladies Are Actually Good Friends
Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert have been two of country music’s leading female artists for years. While many would consider them competitors, they’re actually good friends.
Underwood and Lambert collaborated on a song called “Somethin’ Bad” in 2014. The song was a smash success, as it claimed the #1 spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.
The song’s rise to the top of the chart was a milestone moment. It was the first time in over 20 years that a collaboration between two solo female artists reached the #1 spot.
Underwood and Lambert’s music video for “Somethin’ Bad” was also a hit. It ended up winning the Collaborative Video of the Year award at the CMT Music Awards.
Nearly ten years have passed since Underwood and Lambert released “Somethin’ Bad.” But they are still friends, and celebrate each other’s successes.
Carrie Underwood Opens Up About Her Friendship With Miranda Lambert
Underwood recently spoke about her friendship with Lambert on her new SiriusXM channel, Carrie’s Country. She said:
“I have so much respect for her and the things that she’s accomplished, the songs she writes, the songs she chooses. We’re sisters in this together, man. I hope she knows I’m always in her corner; I think she’s always in mine.”
Underwood said she’s “proud” they’re both “still kickin’ it” after all this time:
“I love her and I really respect that she is who she is, and has never deviated from that,” she added. “…she’s never tried to fit anybody else’s box that they might try to put her in. She does what she wants, I respect that very much.”
