Carrie Underwood is giving her fans a double dose of holiday cheer as the year 2020, and all of its trials and tribulations, winds down.

On Monday, the superstar singer and HBO Max offered a taste of her upcoming musical special with the release of the official trailer for My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood.

The American Idol season four winner will perform every song from her first ever full-length Christmas album, that dropped in September, along with some old and traditional classics, during the spectacular HBO Max Christmas.

‘Join me beginning Dec 3 as I bring the music from #MyGift to life by performing the entire album with a full orchestra, choir, and a few surprises, on my new #hbomax Christmas special,’ she shared in her social media posts for the trailer.

‘I’m so proud of how this turned out and cannot wait for you to see it! #MyGiftHBOMax.’

The Amazon release of her latest album contains eight traditional songs and four new compositions: three co-written by Underwood and another original penned by John Legend and Toby Gad.

‘For Christmas, I felt like it was also about just us being together. So, more than anything, I wanted to make this album full of love and full of so much heart,’ Underwood said during the narration for the trailer

‘And we wanted to bring it to life in a visual way. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.’

She went on to add, ‘Ever time I’m on stage it’s a gift for me to get to sing,’ before revealing that she will be doing a duet with Legend singing — Hallelujah.

‘I’m doing a song with John legend, and it’s been such a wonderful experience the whole way through,’ she confessed. ‘To be able to sing these songs, on a beautiful set, it just really felt amazing.’

Viewers will also get to see and hear a behind-the-scenes look of Underwood recording the classic Little Drummer Boy with her five-year-old son Isaiah.

Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman are the executive producers for the Christmas musical special through their Playtone Entertainment company.

‘This special is an homage to the classic, timeless holiday specials, highlighting the vocal gifts of the incomparable Carrie Underwood,’ Goetzman said in a statement.

‘She’s an artist who transcends genres and shows here why audiences love her around the world,’ he added.

My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood will be available to stream on HBO Max starting Thursday, December 3.
