Carrie Underwood

All is merry and bright for Carrie Underwood this Christmas Eve (December 31) as she topped Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart for the third time.

The country superstar nabbed the top slot with “Hallelujah,” her collaboration with John Legend for her holiday album. While the feat is a major one on its own, Underwood took the No. 1 position from herself as one of her several Christmas carols, “Favorite Time of Year,” dropped to No. 2 for the week of December 26.

As Legend thanked Underwood for helping him land his first top single on the Billboard list, the American Idol alum shared how grateful she was to work with him on the seasonal song.

“Thank you @johnlegend for such a beautiful song! #Hallelujah,” she tweeted, alongside the praise hands and halo happy face emojis.

Underwood marks only one of two artists, and the first female, to dethrone themselves from the No. 1 spot on the chart. The only other singer in Underwood’s company is Jordan Smith back in 2015.

“Hallelujah,” written by Legend and Toby Gad, was one of 11 tracks featured on Underwood’s first holiday album, My Gift. It debuted at the top of both the Billboard Top Christian Albums and Top Country Albums, specifically marking her eighth No. 1 record to be released at the top of the charts in that genre.
