Bunnie XO Confirms Heartbreaking New Jelly Roll Song, ‘Past Yesterday’, Will Feature on Deluxe Version of ‘Beautifully Broken’
Jelly Roll may have just gifted us 22 songs as part of his keenly anticipated Beautifully Broken album, but it looks like we can look forward to another helping of new music soon.
A couple of days before the arrival of Beautifully Broken, which features brand new tracks such as ‘Winning Streak’, ‘Heart of Stone’ and the MGK-assisted ‘Time of Day’, Jelly Roll’s wife, Bunnie XO, took to socials to tease a heartbreaking unreleased track.
Titled ‘Past Yesterday’, the powerful song finds Jelly Roll and an unknown female vocalist telling the harrowing tale of a young girl who has her ‘innocence’ stolen from her by a neighbour. It seemingly tackles sexual assault, again demonstrating Jelly’s willingness to delve into topics that many fellow country artists would usually steer clear of, with Bunnie XO captioning the clip, “This song makes me cry everytime I hear it. If you’re a survivor – IT WAS WRITTEN FOR YOU”.
@xomgitsbunnie This song makes me cry everytime I hear it. If you’re a survivor – IT WAS WRITTEN FOR YOU. Its called “Past Yesterday” & it drops on his new album 10/11 🤍💫 #jellyroll #jellyandbunnie ♬ Past Yesterday by Jelly Roll – Bunnie Xo 🪄
When the initial 22-song tracklist for Beautifully Broken was revealed, ‘Past Yesterday’ was nowhere to be seen, with fans assuming the title had perhaps been changed. This is not the case, as Bunnie XO has revealed in the comments to her TikTok video that ‘Past Yesterday’ will be released as part of the Beautifully Broken deluxe.
Given the fact that she still referred to ‘Past Yesterday’ being made available on October 11th, it looks like Jelly Roll might be gearing up for a surprise deluxe drop later today, similarly to how Post Malone added nine extra songs to F-1Trillion on his release date.
It’s currently unclear as to who the female vocalist is singing ‘Past Yesterday’ with Jelly Roll, but a lot of followers have been guessing it’s prolific singer-songwriter, Skylar Grey.
Either way, it’s clear ‘Past Yesterday’ is going to be another stellar offering that accentuates the rawness of Jelly Roll’s Beautifully Broken era. The ‘I Am Not Okay’ hitmaker underlined in the lead-up to the project that, although he’s now more famous than ever, rather than going for a more commercially-minded approach with this album, he wanted to double-down on his determination to shine a light on real, uncomfortable stories that don’t get covered enough in mainstream music.

“Her mom and daddy trusted
That neighbour she grew up with
They were working days and nights
So he took her home from school sometimes
–
One day when she came home
It looked like she saw a ghost
Snuck up to her room to cry
With a life-long scar to hide
