Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Reveal Their Alternative Careers If Not Music

BLAKE Shelton

It’s hard to imagine the music industry without Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton. These two superstars have been on the scene for a while. They’re Grammy regulars at this point.

They made a splash again at the music awards show this year when they went together. Stefani turned heads in a short white dress covered in shells.

Ahead of the award show, the couple sat down with Gayle King from CBS This Morning. She had quite a few interesting questions to ask them, including where they each would be if they hadn’t made it big in the music business.

Gwen Stefani’s alternative career isn’t much of a surprise

If she weren’t a famous rocker, Stefani says she would be in hair or makeup. That’s easy for fans to see.

Stefani is known for her trademark makeup looks and hairstyles. Since the beginning of her career, her hair and makeup has been on point, and totally her own.

She made a name for herself as the lead singer of rock group No Doubt back in the 1990s. Then, she often wore her platinum blonde hair with streaks of pink, or sometimes entirely pink.

As she branched out on her own, her music began to take on elements of the fashion world she was so enthralled with. Her “Holla Back Girl” era came with a new, distinctive style for Stefani. During that time, her hair, makeup, and clothing were inspired by the Harajuku region of Japan.

Now Stefani has changed up her style yet again. Instead of the short, teased “Holla Back Girl” do, she usually goes for a straight and long hairstyle. Her makeup is often more neutral, although she sometimes still wears the bright red lipstick that was once her signature.

All in all, it’s easy to see Stefani in the hair and makeup industry. In fact, she kind of already is. Stefani has her own makeup and beauty lines, in addition to a fashion brand.

Blake Shelton’s back-up plan is harder to imagine

Shelton said if he hadn’t become one of country music’s biggest stars, he would be working as a roofer. Apparently he was in the roofing business before he made a career out of music.

It doesn’t seem like he enjoyed it very much. He told King he doesn’t know how to roof a house anymore because he’s “blocked it out.” Fans can’t blame him for forgetting how to roof houses: It’s been more than 20 years since he had to do a roofing job.

Shelton came up in country music during the early 2000s. That means he’s newer to the music industry than Stefani, but only by a hair. Still, their paths probably wouldn’t have crossed at the beginning of either of their careers: The two operated in completely different circles.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are very different

King’s interview highlighted some of the differences between Stefani and Shelton. For example, without music, Stefani would still want to do something creative. Shelton, on the other hand, channels all his creativity into music. He doesn’t have another artistic outlet.

He’s also very country, but he’s recruiting Stefani to his genre. Her ideal collab aside from Shelton would be Rihanna or Post Malone. Shelton, on the other hand, would rather work with a country star like Luke Bryan.

The King interview revealed that Shelton is winning Stefani over to country music. She says the one song she’d play on repeat is “Anyone Else” by Blake Shelton. It seems like even though Stefani has rock roots, she may turn country after all.
