American Idol Announces Season 24 Premiere Date
The hit reality singing competition American Idol will return in the new year for its 24th season. Known for producing artists like Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, and more, the series attracts aspiring artists from far and wide, ready to find their big break.
In August, it was announced that Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan would return as the coaching panel for the next season of the show. The three set off on a nationwide search for the next musical star. Auditions were held across the United States throughout the month of September.
On Tuesday, October 28th, a new video shared across American Idol‘s official social media accounts revealed that season 24 will make its debut on Monday, January 26, 2026. The “Idol University” themed announcement featured each of the judges tearing off a tab from a flyer posted to a bulletin board.

“Hollywood Week” Reportedly Moving To Music City
The new season could see some major changes, including a relocation of the pivotal Hollywood Week. According to Deadline, the three judges, as well as longtime host Ryan Seacrest, will reportedly convene with contestants in Nashville instead of Southern California.
Singers who receive a golden ticket during their audition move on to Hollywood Week. During this stage of the competition, they face a series of challenges designed ot thest their vocal ability, stage presence, and versatility.

Large numbers of eliminations occur during this week. Those who make it out advance to the live shows, where their fate is in the hands of the viewers. It is unclear if any changes will be made to Hollywood Week as a result of the relocation. Stay tuned for updates.
Season 24 of American Idol will mark the ninth season on ABC. In the past eight seasons, the show was named a top unscripted series. The most recent season finale ranked No. 1 on the night and No. 1 for the week in primetime. Additionally, it earned the best Total Viewer audience in two years.
The new season of American Idol is set to premiere Monday, January 26th, at 8 p.m. on ABC and Stream on Hulu.
