AGT’s Singing Janitor Shares His Future Plans If He Wins The Show

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, chances are you have seen Richard Goodall, otherwise known as the “viral singing janitor,” on America’s Got Talent.

To catch you up to speed, Richard Goodall, a middle school janitor from Terre Haute, Indiana, went viral during the premiere of Season 19 of America’s Got Talent with his powerful rendition of Journey’s classic “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

His impressive audition even earned him the coveted Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum, who said Goodall “knocked [her] off [her] feet.” His reaction was priceless.

Fun fact: Goodall actually first attempted to audition for AGT back in 2009 in Chicago, where he did not advance past the initial auditions.

After nearly 15 years, his talent finally paid off! Goodall returned to the spotlight, flying to Los Angeles for this year’s auditions—his first-ever flight at the age of 55. His AGT audition quickly went viral, amassing over 21 million views, making it the most talked-about moment of the season.

On August 13, Richard Goodall returned to the stage three months after his audition, performing Michael Bolton’s 1990 hit “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You.”
After each performance, the 10 quarter-finalists took the stage, and the crowd erupted when host Terry Crews announced that Goodall was moving on in the competition. Safe to say, he is a fan favorite!

You can watch his recent performance in the video below:

So, if he wins AGT, what does Richard Goodall plan to do with the money?

During an exclusive interview with Parade, Goodall revealed his plans for the future if he wins the show.

The interviewer drew a comparison between Goodall and Susan Boyle, the Scottish singer who gained international fame in 2009 after her memorable audition on the third series of Britain’s Got Talent.

After mentioning Goodall’s dream of owning a double-wide mobile home in Florida, they asked whether he would consider touring and performing, similar to Boyle’s journey.

Goodall mentioned that his girlfriend, Angie, wants bigger than a double-wide, but they’ll have to “see how that works out.”

“Last time with the [first] video, I had no expectations that time and I have no expectations this time. There’s absolutely no way I can top what I’ve already done. All I can do is go in there and give the best performance I can and that’s what I intend to do.”

He also said that he would be ready to headline a show in Las Vegas, another prize that the winner will get.

We are so happy for Goodall and all that he has accomplished so far! We can’t wait to watch him next week on AGT!
