A Lookback at Miranda Lambert’s Relationships, Including the Allegation She Dated a Married Man

MIRANDA LAMBERT

Country singer Miranda Lambert took the world by surprise when she announced her marriage to a police officer in January 2019. The “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” performer seems to have found her prince charming, but she had to kiss some frogs before meeting him.

Miranda Lambert knows heartbreak first-hand, but as a singer/songwriter, she doesn’t mind using her good and bad experiences with love to create music that her fans find relatable.

“Love is a hard road sometimes, and it’s been a roller-coaster ride for me,” she told the Tennessean in 2018, “but I’m definitely thankful for all the ups and downs because I’ve had some really good songs come out of it.”

For Lambert, the best approach is to put down the bad on paper and move on to the good, as she has done with her past three relationships. Here’s a rundown of Miranda’s highs and low in love.

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton were considered one of country music’s most powerful and popular couples. And although Lambert once said divorce would never be an option for them, that’s precisely what happened.

The pair met in 2005 when they were contacted to sing “You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma” together at the CMT 100 Greatest Duets Concert.

Shelton was married to first wife Kaynette Williams at the time, but his chemistry with Lambert was undeniable in and off stage.

However, Miranda knew Shelton was off-limits, and while they kept in touch, things didn’t turn romantic until after Shelton filed for divorce from Williams in February 2006.

A ROCKY RELATIONSHIP

The couple kept the relationship off the spotlight for a year, as Miranda toured around the country, and Shelton worked on his album “Pure BS,” which was inspired in big part by his split from Williams.

Lambert and Shelton made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2007 CMT Music Awards that April, and while they seemed happy, the couple started to have trouble from spending so much time apart because of their busy schedules.

“There were times early on there that we were just ready to give up on it and walk away from it because there’s nothing easy about having a relationship doing what we do,” Shelton told CMT in 2008.

Adding that they decided it was better to be miserable being together, that be miserable being apart.

ENGAGEMENT AND MARRIAGE

Shelton proposed to Lambert in May 2010 during a walk in the woods near his home in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

“He called my dad and got his blessing first,” Lambert gushed to People at the time. “That was so Southern and old-school and perfect.”

Shelton, on the other hand, confessed that although he had rehearsed what he wanted to say, his nerves made him ruin his speech.

The couple got married in May 2011 at Don Strange Ranch in Texas in front of 500 family members and friends. And their guest list was a star-studded one, including people like Kelly Clarkson, Reba McEntire, Dierks Bentley, Hillary Scott, and Katherine Heigl.

PATH TO DIVORCE

In the following four years, Lambert and Shelton faced many ups and downs. While their careers were soaring, with Shelton landing his spot as a judge on “The Voice,” and Lambert’s music climbing charts, the rumors about their impending separation made headlines every other month.

They made sure to let fans know tabloids were just creating rumors out of nowhere, and they even claimed in a “60 Minutes” special that their marriage was the only private part they had left in their lives and that was not up for discussion

Shelton and Lambert eventually divorced in July 2015, and they only announced the news after all the proceedings were done.

Afterward, Shelton started dating singer Gwen Stefani, while Miranda dated R&B singer Anderson East.

THE “MIRANDERSON” TIME

Lambert and East started dating in the fall of 2015, only a couple of months after her divorce from Shelton.

However, it wasn’t until January 2016 that their relationship public by posting an Instagram photo of them cuddling under a coat and captioning it, “The snuggle is real.”

Three months later, the lovebirds made their red carpet debut at the 2016 Academy of Country Music Awards.

In comparison to her relationship with Blake, Miranda kept remained tight-lipped about Anderson on the press, only mentioning him in a pass, and opting instead for sharing a glimpse into their lives with some sweet pics on social media.

They dated for two years before calling it quit in April 2018. According to reports, the reason behind the split was, once again, that they spent too much time apart.

A MARRIED MAN

A few months after her split from Anderson, Miranda started dating Evan Felker, the vocalist of the group Turnpike Troubadours.

They started spending time together on the road while the Troubadours joined Lambert as the opening act of her “Livin’ Like Hippies” tour. But there was a problem: Felker was a married man.

While it was reported in April 2018 that Lambert and Felker had been dating for months, the singer’s wife Staci Felker filed for divorce in mid-February, only a month after Miranda’s tour started.

Still, Miranda and Evans’s relationship was short-lived, and by August 2018, they had already gone their separate ways.

A SURPRISE MARRIAGE

Six months after her split from Evans, Lambert took everyone by surprise when she announced through an Instagram post in February 2019 that she had married the love of her life.

Her husband is NYPD officer Brendan Mcloughlin, and they met in November 2018 while he was working outside of “Good Morning America,” where Miranda was playing to promote new music with the Pistol Annies.

“I feel like I’ve been through enough in my life to know what I don’t want, so when I know what I do want, I snatch it right up,” Lambert told Health magazine of her husband.

McLoughlin is the father of a 1-year-old son who he shares with his ex, Kaihla Rettinger, and Miranda loves her role as a stepmother.

“My stepson is amazing,” she told Extra last year. “I’m loving that whole phase, and I’ve raised a million dogs, so I feel like I’ve got that part of my womanly/motherly thing is full, so this is a whole new journey. It’s great.”
