Christian Artist Anne Wilson Shares The Gospel At Morgan Wallen Concerts

Christian Singer Anne Wilson Opens For Morgan Wallen

“He makes a way where there ain’t no way, rises up from an empty grave. Ain’t no sinner that He can’t save. Let me tell you ’bout my Jesus. His love is strong and His grace is free, and the good news is I know that He can do for you what He’s done for me.”

Those are the lyrics to Anne Wilson’s 2022 song “My Jesus,” and this song was one of many she sang as the opening act for Morgan Wallen on his I’m The Problem Tour.

At first glance, a Christian artist opening for Morgan may seem out of place, but isn’t admitting “I’m the problem” an important step in confessing one’s sins?

Anne Wilson, a 23-year-old Christian artist who works in country, opened for Morgan at his shows in Seattle, Washington, on July 25 and July 26; and Santa Clara, California, on August 1 and August 2.

“It is interesting how God is such a pillar in country music,” Anne said on the Big D and Bubba radio show, noting her shift toward country has seen her stay true to her authentic Christian self.

Speaking on the GodTube Music show, Anne shared how significant Morgan’s music is to her.

“Honestly, it’s a huge dream for me,” Anne began, thinking of what it means to be opening for him.

“Anyone that knows me, like in my family and friends, know that, like, he is one of the only things I listen to all the time.”

She also expressed her nervousness over performing in a stadium for the first time, as the I’m The Problem Tour is exclusively a stadium tour.

“I’m excited to get to share the Gospel — I think that’s what I’m most looking forward to,” she said.

When asked if there was any pressure for playing for a largely secular audience, she replied, “I’m just authentically me, no matter what stage I’m on, and I really try to just stay true to who I am.”

Morgan Wallen Is Also A Christian

On Facebook, Morgan Wallen’s bio reads: “Born and bred East Tennessee. Believer.”

Leading up to the release of I’m The Problem, Wallen released a brief statement about his approach to his faith within his music.

“You know, me, as a Christian, I think any time that I can throw little hints of that in my music, I’m always all for it,” Morgan said. “Tryin’ not to be takin’ it too lightly, but also, you know, making it cool.”

Lyrically, Wallen tends to approach the subject of faith with an eye on the contradictions in one’s life — moral dilemmas and all.

Known for singing stories of struggle, and letting the “liquor talk,” it’s his self-awareness that reveals his inner conflict.

Further, as the son of a Southern Baptist minister, based out of Sneedville, Tennessee, Biblical allusions seem to come naturally for Wallen.
