Cody Johnson Delivers Powerful Unity Speech, Then He Is Forced To Stop Show Due To Brawl

Cody Johnson went into full “dad mode” when he had to halt his concert because a fight broke out in the crowd.

Ironically, this happened shortly after he delivered an emotional speech about unity and the importance of not being divided.

Johnson is currently touring, and his recent stop included him singing “God Bless America.” Before singing the patriotic anthem, he asked the crowd to raise their hands if they had served in the military or worked in service roles like EMTs, police, or firefighters.

As hands raised across the stadium, he urged everyone to make some noise to honor those on the front lines protecting our freedom and keeping us safe each day.

He said, “I want you to stand up and make some noise for these men and women that have fought for our freedom here tonight.”

Expressing his views on the rising protests across the nation that call for unity. Johnson argued that division among Americans is unnecessary. In his own words, he stated,

“Now there’s even people protesting. They have no clue that they’re just being divided for no reason, because they’re watching the news and believing stuff, and it just kind of goes off. So what I would like to do tonight is I would like to protest the protest. I’m done with division, because let me tell you something. No matter how different we all are, the reason we can disagree and be different is because an American soldier died for your right.”

He emphasized that Americans can only have passionate disagreements because soldiers sacrificed their lives for the country.

After this heartfelt speech, he began singing “God Bless America.”

Then a fight broke out.

However, at the song’s end, chaos erupted as an all-out brawl broke out in the audience. Johnson stopped the concert, put on his “dad hat,” and said, “That’s alright. We got all night,” like scolding his own kids for fighting. He was ready to wait them out.

As the fight persisted, silence fell over the crowd, though the troublemakers did not cease. Johnson then said, “This is not a Travis Scott concert,” referencing the 2021 incident where ten people died during a Travis Scott concert.

Clearly, Johnson was concerned for his audience’s safety, and he confirmed this by stating, “There’s kids in the crowd, there are all kinds of things in here that don’t need to happen. There we go, there are the police officers.”

As police arrived and broke up the fight to ensure everyone’s safety, the audience booed those responsible. According to the Daily Mail, Johnson returned to the stage and joked, “Well, so much for my speech on not being divided.”

Although some fans disagreed with his call for unity, the show continued. Watch the brawl and Cody Johnson’s response below.
