About “Seven Spanish Angels”

“Seven Spanish Angels” was written by Troy Seals and Eddie Setser and recorded as a duet between iconic musicians Ray Charles and Willie Nelson. It was released in November 1984 on Charles’ album Friendship and later included on Nelson’s 1985 compilation album Half Nelson.

The song was ultimately a crossover success. It spent a total of twelve weeks on the US Hot Country Songs chart and took residence in the top spot for one of those weeks.

Tristan Tritt covers “Seven Spanish Angels”

Tristan Tritt, who refers to himself as a “y’allternative artist,” recently shared a cover video of the famous duet by Ray Charles and Willie Nelson. Even though the song was released before he was born, it’s clear that Tristan has learned an appreciation for the classics from his father.

The 25-year-old sports a Florida Gators jersey. He playfully remarks that the choice of attire for the video was inspired by the team needing “divine intervention.”
