His Grand Ole Opry debut on November 9, 2021, was a memorable one, and although he’s not an official member yet, he has performed there multiple times. Given his deep connection to country music, his participation seemed like a sure thing.
In the days leading up to the event, Jelly Roll was featured in promotional materials and was set to join Ashley McBryde for a special tribute to Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash.
However, when the night arrived, Jelly Roll was nowhere to be seen—missing the red carpet, the crowd, and his scheduled performance. Fans were left wondering why he didn’t show up.

As of now, Jelly Roll has yet to personally address his absence. However, according to The Tennessean, he “had to bow out due to illness.” While disappointing for fans, his health remains the top priority.
