Morgan Wallen Drops Long-Awaited New Song, “Love Somebody”
Morgan Wallen first teased the song in May 2024.
The 2024 ACM Awards were held on May 16, 2024, at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Hosted by Reba McEntire, the night was one that so many country stars would not miss. Despite being the most nominated artist with six nominations, Morgan Wallen did not attend.
He was up for the following awards:
- Entertainer of the Year
- Album of the Year (One Thing at a Time,)
- Male Artist of the Year
- Single of the Year (“Last Night”)
- Artist-Songwriter of the Year
- Music Event of the Year (“Man Made a Bar” featuring Eric Church)
The award show came just one month after Wallen was arrested on multiple felonies after throwing a chair off the roof of Church’s Nashville bar, Chief’s, so it wasn’t a huge surprise that Wallen would skip the event.
Although he did not go to the ACM Awards, Wallen still made headlines thanks to his teasing of a new song called “Love Somebody.” He shared footage of himself and some friends enjoying time on a boat and captioned the post, “I feel like this one’s gonna sound good on the boat.”

Fans were ecstatic to have a summer boating song from Wallen, but as the weeks passed by, he released a different single, “Lies, Lies, Lies.” Then, the summer went on and no release of “Love Somebody” in sight!
Wallen first played “Love Somebody” live in Sweden in August 2024.
During his One Night at a Time Tour, Wallen stopped in Stockholm, Sweden to play at the city’s Strawberry Arena. There, he worked in the live debut of “Love Somebody” into his 22-song set list.
While introducing the song, Wallen said, “This will be the first time, we’re gonna give it a shot. It’s called ‘Love Somebody!’”
He also performed the song live at the T.J. Martell Foundation on September 17 with Ernest and Hardy.
But even though he was starting to perform “Love Somebody” live, there still weren’t any signs of when it would be released.
Fans were getting frustrated and going back to Wallen’s original April teaser post and writing:
“At this point we will be listening to it on Santa’s sleigh”
“You teased this in May and still haven’t dropped it”
“Drop the song dude, im tired of listening to a minute of it”
But other fans are just happy for a new song, whenever it would be released.
“It will sound good on a boat, it will sound good on a float. I will listen over here, I will listen over there,” one clever fan commented.
Wallen finally released “Love Somebody” on Friday, October 18
During his concert at Neyland Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, the singer announced he would be dropping the single on October 18!
When the day finally came, Wallen made a simple social media post reading, “Love Somebody out now.” The single’s artwork features a blurry photo of a few palm trees and a sunset.
It’s safe to say that after six months of only hearing a short snippet, fans were elated to finally hear the full song! See some fan reactions below.
