Loretta Lynn’s First Grandchild, Lynn Massey, Dies After “Difficult Health Battle”
Loretta Lynn’s Beloved Granddaughter, Lynn Massey, Has Died
The team that runs Loretta Lynn’s social media pages had some sad news to share with the late country legend’s fans…her first grandchild, Lynn Massey, recently passed away.
Loretta shared six children with her husband, Oliver “Doo” Lynn. They had four daughters and two sons: Betty Sue, Jack Benny, Ernest Ray, Clara Marie “Cissie,” and twins Peggy and Patsy.
Unfortunately, both Betty Sue and Jack Benny preceded their mother in death. Jack passed away in July 1984 following a tragic drowning accident. Betty Sue died in July 2013 due to complications associated with emphysema.
“You are never the same after you bury one of your children-never,” Loretta wrote on Facebook on the 37th anniversary of Jack’s death. She reflected on how, as the two oldest kids, he and Betty Sue “kept [her] on [her] toes” as a new mother.
“…I’d do it all again if I could. They’re together now,” Loretta said.
Loretta died on October 4, 2022. Her husband, Doo, and a grandson, Jeffrey Allen Lynn, also preceded her in death. She was survived by four of her children and 25 grandchildren.
