Strait revealed which song it was to fans at his recent show at the A&M Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, which also happened to be the same night that he set an impressive new record.
On June 15, George Strait broke the record for the highest concert attendance in the United States!
110,905 fans purchased tickets to see the concert, setting a new all-time record for a “ticketed concert” in the U.S. His new record surpassed the previous one set nearly 50 years ago.
During his performance, Strait was told the total number of attendees for the night and shared his reaction.
Taking in how many fans were in front of him, Strait joked, “I’m scared!” before laughing and following up with:
“That’s amazing! Never have we ever played in front of a crowd this big.”

During his recent concert, George Strait revealed the song to the huge crowd before playing it.
“I’ve been asked many many times what’s my favorite song that I ever recorded. And it’s this one right here. It’s called ‘Amarillo By Morning.’”
As soon as he revealed the name, the crowd went absolutely wild, screaming at the top of their lungs.
Released as a single in 1982, “Amarillo By Morning” quickly became one of the most cherished and beloved songs from the Texas native.
