America’s Favorite Singing Janitor, Richard Goodall, Sings Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless The U.S.A.”

Richard Goodall has taken America by storm after his stunning America’s Got Talent audition went viral earlier this year.

Richard Goodall, a middle school janitor from Indiana, shocked the America’s Got Talent judges and audience when he sang a flawless cover of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” for his audition. The performance earned him a Golden Ticket, which is a pass straight through to the live rounds of competition.

Tuesday night (August 13) marked the first live semi-final round of AGT season 19, and Goodall returned to the stage for his highly anticipated follow-up performance. He chose to sing Michael Bolton’s “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You” and dedicated it to his fiancee, Angie.

In his pre-performance interview, the 55-year-old shared that the night his now-viral audition aired, Angie underwent heart surgery after suffering a near-fatal heart attack. On Tuesday night, Angie was in the audience to cheer on her fiancee and beamed with pride as he sang the song he dedicated to her.

Richard Goodall’s life has changed in many ways since his America’s Got Talent audition aired.

The singing janitor is still a singing janitor, despite his newfound fame. Goodall has no intention of giving up his day job, but has enjoyed other perks like a brand new car gifted to him by country star Walker Hayes.

Walker Hayes used his own story and success to pay it forward to Richard by giving him a brand new white Buick. Early in Hayes’ career, when he was struggling to get his career off the ground and his family was mourning the loss of their child, a man named Craig gave Hayes a van to help. In return, Walker started the Be A Craig Fund. This fund allows him to be a blessing to others like Craig was a blessing to him.

This time, Richard Goodall was the lucky recipient of Craig and Walker’s generosity after Walker heard that the AGT contestant didn’t have a reliable vehicle to get himself to interviews.

Richard Goodall’s sudden fame has fans wanting to learn more about the somewhat mysterious janitor.

They also can’t seem to get enough of his voice. Thankfully the internet has plenty to offer, including a stunning rendition of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless The U.S.A.”

According to the video caption, Goodall took some time to sing a few songs for the middle schoolers who attend the school he works at. With a simple sound system and microphone, Richard stood in front of a room full of kids and sang the song that earned him a Golden Buzzer and a few more, including “God Bless The U.S.A.”
