Taylor Swift shares how Brad Paisley’s tour prank kept her awake.

Taylor Swift recounted a memorable prank from Brad Paisley during her induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, an event that highlights her lasting connection to her roots in country music.

On Monday night, October 26, in Nashville, Swift celebrated her induction as the youngest artist ever to receive this honor at the age of 36. As she accepted the accolade, she reflected on her formative years in the industry, recalling a mischievous incident with Paisley while she opened for him on his 2007 Bonfires & Amplifiers Tour.

The Cricket Caper

During her heartfelt acceptance speech, Swift humorously revisited the time Paisley filled her tour bus with thousands of live crickets, a prank that left a lasting impression. “For months I couldn’t sleep,” Swift said, alluding to the chaos that ensued and even humorously considering adopting a pet lizard to tackle the cricket problem.

Reflecting on Nashville’s Influence

This anecdote was just a part of Swift’s reflections on her early songwriting journey in Nashville. Celebrating 20 years since her debut self-titled album, she acknowledged how integral the city has been in shaping her career and artistry. “Nashville is the place that honed and polished the thing about myself and the thing about my life that I am the most proud of and the most passionate about,” she stated, underscoring the profound impact the city has had on her identity as an artist.

I started writing songs when I was a little kid, and I knew from the time I wrote my first song that even if it couldn’t be my career, it would be my passion. It would be what I centered my entire life around.

Swift expressed her gratitude for the honor of being inducted, stating that she would treasure the moment as one of many “amazing Nashville moments” she would cherish throughout her life. The event also featured a stripped-down performance of her hit “Love Story” by Lainey Wilson, and included fellow inductees Shawn Camp, Bruce Channel, Lyle Lovett, and Lee Thomas Miller. George Strait was honored with the Career Maker Award, further highlighting the event’s significance to the country music community.
