In a recent interview on TODAY while promoting the upcoming season of The Voice, Green tackled a question about whether he prefers a partner from Nashville or his native Alabama, responding that geographic location is irrelevant to him.

Simple Qualities Matter Most

“I don’t know what I’m looking for, you know? I don’t care where they live at,” Green shared. The country star revealed that the most important factor for any potential girlfriend is approval from those close to him.

“Probably just somebody that I think my mom will like,” he noted, adding a humorous twist with a mention of his dog, Carl. “If Carl and my mom like her — Carl’s my dog — we should just line ’em up and have Carl see who he goes to,” he joked. Carl, an engaging Australian cattle dog and corgi mix, often shares the spotlight with Green, appearing in various ad campaigns and even managing his own Instagram account.

The Challenge of Dating in the Spotlight

Although speculation has linked Green to several women, including Megan Moroney and Ella Langley, none of these rumors were substantiated. The attention surrounding his duet with Langley on “You Look Like You Love Me” only fueled further gossip.

During an appearance on the This Past Weekend w/Theo Von podcast, Green candidly discussed the difficulties of dating while managing a busy touring schedule. He expressed that the pressures of fame can make meeting new people daunting, especially in social settings like bars or restaurants where his celebrity status can attract undue attention.

Green also mentioned that he prefers to wait for a more stable period in his career before diving into a serious relationship, adding, “I’m simply too busy to give a relationship the time it deserves.” As he prepares for the release of his new album, That’s Just Me, set to drop on September 18, and his role as a coach on The Voice, he remains focused on his professional growth.
