15-Year-Old Carrie Underwood Sings Mindy McCready’s “Maybe He’ll Notice Her Now”
It was clear from early on that Carrie Underwood was destined to be a star. This is something that one musician recognized when she was just a teenager.
Chad Little, a former member of the band 71 South, got the chance to perform with Underwood when she was only 15 years old. Years later, Little came across some old footage of his band performing with Underwood, and decided to share it with the world.
One of the clips shows Underwood singing “Maybe He’ll Notice Her Now,” which was a big hit for Mindy McCready in 1997.
The heartbreaking song is about a woman who’s had enough of being ignored by the man she loves. She finally decides to leave him, as the narrator sings, “Now that she’s gone, maybe he’ll notice her now.”
Underwood performed the song with 71 South in 1998 during a show in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Wearing a Western-style shirt with her blonde waves cascading down her shoulders, Underwood shyly introduced the song.
But all shyness faded away as soon as she opened her mouth to sing.
At such a young age, Underwood was already a natural on stage. The song didn’t show off the powerhouse moments that Underwood is now known for, but was still jaw-dropping because of the beautiful tenderness of her voice.
Listening to and watching this, we can tell why Underwood is now one of the leading female artists in country music. Talent like hers is a true gift!
