Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood’s husband, Mike Fisher, has been by her side for eleven years and counting. That’s why it’s so exciting that this happy couple is the subject of the latest docuseries called Mike and Carrie: God & Country.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the couple filmed the four-part series in Tennessee late last year. “We got into talking about the difficulties of raising a family or some of the personal trials they’ve gone through, and there are some genuine emotional moments in there,” producer Jonah Ingram revealed.

“There were moments where I was glad Mike and Carrie were together, so they could hold each other’s hands and walk through it together.” The docuseries were released on I Am Second website last May 27, 2020, and it explored a boatload of stuff about the “Before He

But before you go and binge watch Mike and Carrie: God & Country, here are some things we know about the hunky hockey player.

He Is A Former Professional Ice Hockey Centre

Mike Fisher, a 40-year-old native of Ontario, Canada, played professional ice hockey center for the Ottawa Senators and Nashville Predators in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1999 to 2018.

Fisher debuted with the Senators in 1999–2000 and became known for his aggressive style of play and started to show his penchant for offensive production. In February 2011, Fisher was traded to the Nashville Predators in exchange for the Predators’ 2011 first-round draft pick and a conditional pick in 2012.

He played with the ice hockey team until he announced his retirement in May 2018.

He Is A Devout Christian

Mike Fisher was born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario, to parents Jim and Karen, who are devout Christian. They taught him the importance of faith. “I grew up in a Christian family and decided to follow Christ at a young age,” Fisher explained. “My parents were amazing, but I was a fairly good kid.”

In 2011, the devout Christian was the subject of a book titled ‘Defender of Faith,’ Written by Kim Washburn. The motivational book was aimed at young people around ages 9 to 12. It was a true story of how Mike Fisher’s strong faith helped him overcome obstacles and rise to hockey greatness.

“Having a relationship with Jesus and making him the center of everything I do is the most important thing to me in hockey and whatever I am doing,” Fisher said at that time.

“I’ve always enjoyed working with kids, whether it be hockey school, things like that, and I just thought it would kind of be neat to start there with a book for kids,” he added. “Kids need role models. I needed role models when I was growing up, and that’s what helped me.”

He Is Into Hunting

Mike Fisher may be best known at this point for his career on the ice, but the retired NHL star hunts pretty well too.

In 2019, he created the First-Annual Mike Fisher Celebrity Clay Shoot in Nashville, Tennessee. It was for the benefit of the Nashville Predators Foundation. Carrie Underwood even traded in the glitz and glam for some laid-back clay shooting gear to show support to her husband. Other prominent figures also came together to shoot clay pigeons and raise money for a good cause.

Fisher took to Instagram to announce the success of the event. The posted photo featured Carrie Underwood with her husband as the two aim their shots. The Predator alum wrote, “First annual clay shoot was a huge success! Thank you @predsfoundation and all those who came out today! Can’t wait for next year!!”

He’s One of The Founders Of The Brand Catchin’ Deers

What started as an inside joke has become a legitimate business. Catchin’ Deers is a Nashville- and Canada-based apparel company for hunters with a sense of humor. It was founded by Mike Fisher together with his younger brother Bud and friend Austin Casselman.

It started when Casselman committed the biggest rookie mistake in a deer camp. Casselman became the target of all jokes as the Fishers goaded their friend. The next year, Bud Fisher showed up for the opening weekend at deer camp. He brought with him trucker hats screen-printed with the phrase: CATCHIN’ DEERS. He had no idea what he started.

Everywhere the guys went, stores, airports, festivals, people commented on the hats. So they made a few more and the rest was history.

He Often Posts Parody Videos On His Social Media

The former Nashville Predators star definitely knows how to have some fun. Mike Fisher once dropped a parody video of his wife’s 2006 smash, “Before He Cheats.” The clip featured Fisher driving to a special hunting location. He re-titled the song to “Before She Bleats” and replaced the song’s original lyrics with ones that fit right in with the hunting season.

Before that month, Mike Fisher debuted a spoof video on Lonestar’s megahit “Maybe I’m Amazed” with lyrics that were rewritten to be about a buck.

Carrie took to the comments section of the post to share her thoughts and wasn’t afraid to make it known she wasn’t a huge fan of his musical choice. She hilariously joked that she’d actually unfollow her husband if he didn’t stop.

“Don’t make me unfollow you,” Underwood jokingly wrote.

He Is Carrie Underwood’s Lifeline

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher got the sweetest and strongest relationship out there.

“He is so levelheaded about everything, and when I was dealing with everything, not just emotionally but hormonally, when you’re going on that roller coaster of pregnant, not pregnant, pregnant, not pregnant, I was probably not very easy to love, to be honest,” the singer said.

“And to have somebody so even-keeled, he was my lifeline, keeping me grounded.”

The two tied the knot on July 10, 2010. They have two children, son Isaiah Michael, and Jacob Bryan.
