David Bisbal and Carrie Underwood performed their heartfelt Spanglish track “Tears of Gold” at the 2021 Latin American Music Awards, Thursday night (April 15). The song was also nominated for favorite video, which was nabbed by Selena Gomez’s “De Una Vez.”
“It’s been so amazing, everyone’s been very welcoming and I’m so excited to be here,” Underwood tells Billboard on the red carpet.
“The song was part of one of my projects and when I discovered the power ‘Tears of Gold’ had, I knew it needed a powerful voice,” Bisbal explains. “That’s why we got in touch with Carrie’s team. She said yes from the very beginning and I’m very grateful for that. In fact, it was her idea to sing some of her parts in Spanish.”
As for upcoming projects, Underwood says she’s “always working on things” and Bisbal prepares to celebrate his 20-year trajectory in 2022. “We’re preparing something special,” he promises.
