Carrie Underwood delivered a surprise announcement to fans on Christmas day, revealing plans to release a new album next Spring.
The superstar shared the news via social media in a video message explaining that the project, dubbed My Savior, will include gospel hymns and serves as a companion to My Gift, her first-ever Christmas album.
After thanking fans for their support of My Gift, Underwood explained that her holiday album inspired her to keep making music that makes her feel good.
“I basically didn’t want all of that to end,” Underwood shared. “I felt like my soul was in such a great place, I wanted to keep making music like the music off of My Gift.”
While she didn’t reveal the exact release date for My Savior, Underwood said it will be available before Easter, which falls on April 4, 2021.
“I’ve been making music that I love and been giving my heart to the Lord,” she said.
My Gift was released in September and dominated the charts in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The album debuted at the top of multiple charts, securing the Grammy-winner’s eighth consecutive No.1 debut on the Billboard Country Chart.
Underwood brought My Gift to life with a one-hour special airing exclusively on HBO Max.
Prior to releasing My Gift, Underwood released her latest studio album, Cry Pretty, in September of 2018.
