Carrie Underwood’s new gospel album, My Savior, will arrive just in time for Easter. The country star announced on Tuesday (January 19), the new project will officially be released on March 26.
The album, which features a collection of gospel hymns Underwood grew up singing in church, is co-produced by the singer and David Garcia, who also co-produced 2018’s Cry Pretty. My Savior serves as a companion to Underwood’s 2020 Christmas album, My Gift.
“It’s been such a blessing to make music like this, inspirational music that is near and dear to my heart,” Underwood said in a statement. “These two albums have been on my musical bucket list since the beginning of my career and were planned long before the events of the past year, but somehow it feels like the perfect time to share these beloved songs with the world.”
Underwood turned to Instagram to share a video trailer for My Savior writing, “For as long as I can remember I have wanted to record an album of my favorite gospel hymns, and after #MyGift felts like the perfect time to make it happen.” She continued on to share the album name and release date, adding that fans can pre-order and pre-save My Savior now. Underwood first announced My Savior in an Instagram post shared on Christmas Day. “I am very blessed and very lucky because I have basically been living in Christmas-land all of 2020, which was a great place to be for this year,” she said in the video. “I’ve been making music that I love and been just giving my heart to the Lord with My Gift, which you guys have been so wonderful to support. Lots of love and support and I have felt it every step of the way, so thank you so much for that.”
Underwood continued on to explain that she “basically didn’t want all of that to end when I was making this music, I felt like my soul was in such a great place, I wanted to keep making music like the music off of My Gift. So I am here to give you guys a little gift right now and announce that I did that. I went ahead and made some more music. I made an album called My Savior which is hopefully just a little companion to My Gift.”
My Savior is due out on March 26. Stay tuned for additional details to come!
