The songs on #MyGift are a mix of Christmas classics that are close to my heart and new songs that I hope will become close to yours. The album also includes a couple of very special guests…I can’t wait for you all to hear “Hallelujah” written by and sung with the incredible @JohnLegend, and a very special version of “Little Drummer Boy” featuring my own little drummer boy, Isaiah. September 25 can’t come soon enough! #MyGift ✨ 🎁
“The songs on #MyGift are a mix of Christmas classics that are close to my heart and new songs that I hope will become close to yours,” Underwood wrote on Instagram. “I can’t wait for you all to hear ‘Hallelujah’ written by and sung with the incredible @JohnLegend, and a very special version of ‘Little Drummer Boy’ featuring my own little drummer boy, Isaiah.”
The album releases on Sept. 25, and at this point, fans are ready to skip Halloween and Thanksgiving and jump right into the Christmas spirit. “I can’t wait for you to save 2020,” one commented. “So excited I could cry! I have said for years you needed a Christmas album,” another added. “Can’t wait to hear sweet little Isaiah!” someone else wrote. Underwood has two sons Isaiah Michael, 5, and Jacob Bryan, 1.
In a separate post, the singer announced that customers who pre-order the album get exclusive access to the original track, “Let There Be Peace”—an upbeat, encouraging song featuring a gospel chorus. Fans who have already listened can’t get enough.
“THE KEY CHANGE!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥” one person commented. “I love the message of acceptance and compassion all throughout the song,” another added. “I’m listening to it right this second and I’ve got CHILLS!!” another wrote. “It’s INCREDIBLE!!”
Underwood began working on the album after her Cry Pretty tour ended in October 2019. “This year, it was just kind of on my heart to do this Christmas album. I just felt like this was such a fitting time,” she said in a statement. “Even though it has been a tough year for all of us, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can be inspired by the most difficult times, and make us more grateful for the things we do have and for what truly matters.”
On Aug. 12, Dolly Parton also announced the impending arrival of A Holly Dolly Christmas album. So, although the 2020 holiday season is bound to be an odd one, we at least have some good music to look forward to. These queens of country have never let us down.
