Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher get emotional while talking about multiple miscarriages
The gut-wrenching conversation occurs on Mike Fisher’s (Underwood’s husband) I Am Second docuseries titled Mike and Carrie: God & Country. The series’ website describes the four-part short film series. Fisher and Underwood open up about their marriage, parenting, heartbreaks, and purpose in the short films. Ultimately, the series strives to answer the question, “In all the ups and downs of life and relationships, how do you find solid ground.”
Heartbreakingly, the downs in life is a history of repeated miscarriages for the couple. The Season 4 American Idol winner, married professional ice hockey player in 2010 and now has two children. The most recent episode is titled, “The Wrestle.” During this episode, the songstress and retired Nashville Predators captain get emotional. They specifically discuss the struggles of back to back miscarriages. In September 2018 Underwood tells CBS Sunday Morning that she had three pregnancy losses in two years. Additionally, Fisher and Underwood recount wrestling back and forth with their emotions and faith.
Underwood shares that she “had an honest conversation with God” while she was pregnant with Jacob in 2018. According to Entertainment Tonight, she says, “I was hurt. I was a little angry and of course, you feel guilty for being mad at your creator.” Luckily, it wasn’t too long after that, Underwood went to the doctor who confirmed a healthy pregnancy.
A Sibling for Isaiah
Admittedly, Fisher also explains his frustrations with the miscarriages his family experienced after the birth of their first son, Isaiah, 5. Strong in his faith, Fisher reveals that he sensed “God told him that he and Carrie would have a second son.” Rightfully so, Fisher also recollects Underwood’s skepticism about his feelings about having another child.
